C Band Ku Band LNB – Parts Types
LNB stands for low noise block down converter. LNB is basically a data receiving device. Most commonly used of LNB is on satellite dishes. We can collect the data from the satellite, then we convert these data in the form of a signal. Now the next step is that LNB sends the data to the receiver with the help of a cable. LNB is also known as LLC. LLC means low noise converter.
Parts of LNB
LNB consists of the following parts;
- low noise amplifier
- local oscillator
- frequency mixer
- intermediate frequency amplifier
These four are the main components of LNB.
Receiving device receiver and the LNB can be connected with each other with the help of a coaxial cable.
What is a coaxial cable?
Coaxial cable is an electrical cable and consists of two conductors one is an outer conductor and another is Center conductor.
When LNB receives the signal, mostly signals are weak. The weak signals will need to amplify before Downconversion. When LNB power the weak signal then some amount of nice is also added to the signal.
How to represent the low noise quality of an LNB?
Low nice quality open LNB can be represented with the help of noise figure.
Nice figure formula can be represented as follows;
Nice figure = signal to the noise ratio at the input/ signal to the noise ratio at the output.
Types of LNB
There are multiple types of LNB. Some of the types of LNB are as follows;
- Single LNB
- Twin LNB
- Quad LNB
- Octo LNB
- Quattro LNB
Single LNB
Single LNB has one output.
Twin LNB
Twin LNB has two outputs.
Quad LNB
LNB has 4 outputs.
Octo LNB
Octo LNB has eight outputs.
Quattro LNB is different from other LNBs because it is for different kind of outputs and can be used with multi-switches.
C-band LNB
The below-mentioned details are for C-band LNB;
- Local oscillator in GHZ: 5.15
- Frequency in GHz: 3.40–4.20
- Noise temperature in Kelvins: 25–100 Polarization: Linear
Ku-band LNB
The below-mentioned details are for standard linear LNB:
- Local oscillator in GHZ: 10.75
- Frequency in GHz: 11.70 –12.20
- Noise figure in dB: 1 dB typical
- Polarization: Linear
