Good morning, everyone!

Today, I want to tell you about a special day for Sri Lanka: February 4, 1948. This day is celebrated as Sri Lanka’s Independence Day! On this day, Sri Lanka became a free country after being ruled by another nation for many years.

Before 1948, Sri Lanka was known as Ceylon. The people wanted to be independent and make their own choices. Many brave men and women worked hard to fight for their freedom. They spoke up for their rights and showed great courage.

When Sri Lanka gained its independence, everyone was very happy! The people celebrated with parades, music, and dances. They waved their flags proudly, feeling free and united.

Independence means that a country can decide how to govern itself and build a future for its people. Sri Lanka has beautiful landscapes, delicious food, and rich culture. The people work together to create a better life for everyone.

On Independence Day, we remember the heroes who fought for freedom. Let’s celebrate their bravery and the joy of being free!

I welcome all of you to my independent country Sri Lanka.  Sri Lanka gained independence on February 4, 1948 from British rule. DS Senanayake, played a main role in freeing the country from British rule.  All the people worked together with our freedom fighters and finally, we got freedom. They gave us freedom after hard work and great sacrifices, seeing the growing ways in the search for freedom in the country.

We consider Independence Day as a beautiful occasion when we pay tribute to our heroes and connect our country with love and affection. On this day, every student and every compatriot realizes the value of our country and we remember the historical efforts of our country.

Independence Day is celebrated across the country with all kinds of events, fairs, and promotions. In every city and town, special color processions are held in which people sing songs together and remember the sacrifices of their heroes with enthusiasm.

Together, our national heroes braved great toils and great dangers so that we could achieve freedom. He united the youth as the nation rose against the protests and injustices of the British government. They faced self-sacrifice, self-sacrifice, and great sacrifices so that we could come to a free country.
