Speech on February 7, 1974 Grenada Independence

Good morning, everyone!

Today, I want to share something special about New Zealand and its independence. New Zealand is a beautiful country with amazing mountains and lovely beaches. It became a self-governing country on September 26, 1907. This means it started to rule itself and make its own laws.

Before this, New Zealand was part of Britain. The people wanted to have more control over their lives and decisions. They worked hard and showed their desire for independence. Finally, in 1947, New Zealand signed an important law that let them make their own rules without asking Britain.

Independence is very important because it means the people of New Zealand can choose how to live and what is best for their country. They are proud of their culture, history, and the many different people who live there.

On Independence Day, New Zealanders celebrate with fun events, music, and dancing. They remember the hard work of those who helped make their country free.

Let’s celebrate New Zealand’s independence and the joy of being a free nation!
