Let me share with you a difference between cuticular transpiration and stomatal transpiration

Aspect Cuticular Transpiration Stomatal Transpiration
Introduction ·        A type of transpiration that takes place through the cuticle.

·        Cuticle is the outermost layer of the epidermis of leaves, stems, and other plant organs.

·        A type of transpiration that primarily occurs through stomata.

·        Stomata are specialized pores on the surfaces of leaves and stems.

Water Loss Regulation Generally less regulated compared to stomatal transpiration Actively regulated by the opening and closing of stomata, controlled by guard cells
Rate of Transpiration Generally lower as compared to stomata transpiration Stomatal transpiration accounts for a significant portion of overall water loss in plants
Role in Water Regulation Contributes to the overall water balance of the plant, particularly in aerial plant surfaces Plays a crucial role in regulating water loss and gas exchange for photosynthesis
Visibility Generally not visible to the naked eye Stomata may be visible under a microscope or with the naked eye, depending on size and distribution
