Let me share with you a difference between cuticular transpiration and lenticular transpiration.

AspectCuticular TranspirationLenticular Transpiration
Location·        A type of transpiration that takes place through the cuticle.

·        Cuticle is the outermost layer of the epidermis of leaves, stems, and other plant organs.

·        A type of transpiration that occurs through lenticels.

·        Lenticels are small pores or openings in the bark of woody plants.

SignificanceFunctions as a barrier to water loss and protects against pathogens,Provides a pathway for gas exchange and may contribute to water loss in woody stems.
Rate of transpirationCuticular transpiration is generally has a lower rateLenticular transpiration may contribute to a significant portion of overall transpiration in woody plants
VisibilityGenerally not visible to the naked eyeLenticels may be visible as small openings on the surface of stems and branches
