Difference between ingestion and egestion

Let me share with you a difference between ingestion and egestion.

Introduction The process of taking in or consuming food or other substances into the body The process of expelling undigested materials from the body
Purpose Facilitates the introduction of nutrients and other substances into the digestive system for processing Aims to remove waste materials or indigestible components that cannot be absorbed
Nature of material Ingestion involves the intake of various materials, including nutrients and non-nutrients Egestion involves the removal of indigestible materials, such as fiber, unabsorbed food particles and waste products
Frequency Occurs multiple times throughout the day as organisms consume food Typically occurs less frequently
