Let me share with you a difference between cuticular transpiration and lenticular transpiration.

Aspect Cuticular Transpiration Lenticular Transpiration
Location ·        A type of transpiration that takes place through the cuticle.

·        Cuticle is the outermost layer of the epidermis of leaves, stems, and other plant organs.

·        A type of transpiration that occurs through lenticels.

·        Lenticels are small pores or openings in the bark of woody plants.

Significance Functions as a barrier to water loss and protects against pathogens, Provides a pathway for gas exchange and may contribute to water loss in woody stems.
Rate of transpiration Cuticular transpiration is generally has a lower rate Lenticular transpiration may contribute to a significant portion of overall transpiration in woody plants
Visibility Generally not visible to the naked eye Lenticels may be visible as small openings on the surface of stems and branches
