Let me share with you a difference between antheridia and archegonia.

Aspect Antheridia Archegonia
Introduction A haploid structure that produces and releases male gametes or sperms. A haploid structure that produces and releases female gametes or eggs.
Present in Male part Female part
Structure Typically flask-shaped or elongated structure. Generally flask-shaped structure
Location on gametophyte Often scattered on the surface of the gametophyte Usually located in a specific region of the gametophyte, often near the apical meristem
Protection of gametes Antheridia usually exposed to the external environment Archegonia often have protective coverings or jackets that surround the egg, helping to prevent desiccation and provide some protection
Number of gametes production Numerous male gametes produced in each antheridium Typically, only one egg is produced in each archegonium
Motility Antherozoids (sperm cells) are often motile and require water for movement to reach the archegonia Eggs are non-motile and are fertilized within the protective environment of the archegonium
