Let me share with you a difference between basidiomycota and deutromycota.

Aspect Basidiomycota Deuteromycota
Sexual reproduction Involves the formation of basidia, which bear basidiospores Sexual reproduction is not observed or not well-documented
Asexual reproduction Through conidia Through conidia or sporangia
Habitat Terrestrial Ubiquitous and found in diverse habitats
Fruiting Body Produces conspicuous fruiting bodies (basidiocarps) that release basidiospores Lacks distinctive sexual fruiting bodies; asexual reproductive structures are more commonly observed
Diseases Some are associated with human diseases e.g., Cryptococcus neoformans Some can cause human infections e.g., Aspergillus, Candida, dermatophytes
Current status A recognized phylum within the kingdom Fungi An artificial and obsolete group; now considered anamorphic fungi with unknown sexual stages
Examples ·        Agaricus (mushrooms)

·        Ustilago (smuts)

·        Cryptococcus (yeast)

·        Aspergillus (a mold)

·        Fusarium (a mold)

·        Trichophyton (a dermatophyte)
