BASIC SCALE, NAME & NATURE OF (BS-18) CHIEF TRANSLATOR Contract Basis for the period of two years

LAW AND PARLIAMENTARY AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT

PRESCRIBED QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE AS PER SERVICE RULES:
a) M. Phil in Translation Studies from a University recognized by Higher Education Commission or M. Phil in English with specialization in translation from a University recognized by Higher Education
Commission; and
b) Two years practical experience of translation from English to Urdu.
NOTE:
Experience in private entities shall be accepted if such entity is registered with SECP, Registrar of Firms or any other Regularity Authority. The requisite experience must be after acquiring the prescribed qualification.

 

AGE:
Male: 25 to 45 + 5 = 50 years
Female: 25 to 45 + 8 = 53 years
As per Government of the Punjab Notification No. SOR-I (S&GAD)9-36/81 dated 21 May 2012 and Notification No. SOR-I (S&GAD)9-2/2022 dated 26 January 2022.
Age and sex of the transgender will be based on the contents of their CNIC.

SYLLABUS FOR WRITTEN EXAMINATION/ TEST (IF HELD):-
Paper-I (Objective Type) Total Marks:100
a) English Linguistics 30 Marks
b) Urdu Linguistics 30 Marks
c) Translation Studies 30 Marks
d) Computer Skills 10 Marks
Paper-II (Subjective Type) Total Marks:100
a) Translation of an English Paragraph into Urdu
b) Translation of a Legal Text into Urdu
c) Translation of the legal terms into Urdu
d) Comprehension of the terms in context
e) Comprehension of the terms in a given paragraph
f) Translation of Urdu text into English
NOTE:
i) A candidate shall have to obtain 40% marks in each paper and 50% marks in the aggregate to qualify for interview. Thereafter, a candidate shall also secure 50% marks in the interview to be held eligible for final merit list of successful candidates.
ii) Negative marking shall be made and 0.25 marks shall be deducted for each incorrect answer in the MCQ papers
NUMBER OF CHANCES: Only three (03) chances are allowed to a candidate to appear in the examination of Translator (BS-17).
