Project Proposal of Online Inventory Management System Project

Introduction:

The online inventory management system is a web-based system for COMPANIES, ORGANIZATIONS OR UNIVERSITIES which will provide a simple and easy user interface to operate, which can be managed by any user without having prior in-depth knowledge of the computer system.

If you are confuse that what is inventory, then must read the basic questions answers on Inventory.

The system will allow to managing university assets inventories I-e all Consumable and non-consumable information also perform procurement activities, in a very simple way, using a state-of-the-art software application.

Consumable assets :

Items that “get used up” or discarded. For example, consumable office supplies are such products as paper, pens

Non-consumable assets :

That item is reusable. For example a  chair, table, etc.

Procurement assets :

It is the act of finding, acquiring, buying goods, services or works from an external source.

Background:

In the past, there are many kinds of an online inventory management system which has been developed. This idea can be understood by reading many articles like:

  • Online Inventory Management System.
  • Design and Development of an Online Assets Inventory Management System (AIMS).
  • Web-Based Inventory Management System for the West Virginia State Police.

Problem Statement:

The manual system employed by organizations involves the physical movement of their audit staff from office to office manually count the assets residing in each office before entering them into the spreadsheet. This method wastes time is characterized by errors and it is difficult to keep inventory records.

Our Contribution:

Our contribution is to produce a system that will reduce cost and time complexity of COMPANIES, ORGANIZATIONS OR UNIVERSITIES administration. It is also helpful for planning a new development in COMPANIES, ORGANIZATIONS OR UNIVERSITIES.

 Functional requirements:

The Functional requirements are divided into the following two parts

  1. Administration Functional Requirements
  2. User requirements

Administration Functional Requirements:

  • System login function, with password change functionality after login.
  • Add new items and categories into the system assets list.
  • Remove items and categories from inventory.
  • Delete and update system users.
  • View inventory status.
  • Products search by name or by product category.
  • Check bills generated for the day.
  • Check the money transaction for the day.
  • Check the inventory status, minimum, and maximum stock point and order point.
  • Create inventory reports i-e daily, weekly and monthly.

User requirements:

  • System login function.
  • View available products.
  • Assets search by name or by product category.
  • Check bills generated for the day.
  • Check the money transaction for the day.
  • Check the inventory status, minimum, and maximum stock point and order point.
  • Create inventory reports i-e daily, weekly and monthly.

Development Languages:

  • A suitable programming environment needs to be selected for system development. The chosen languages should be capable of developing a graphical user interface to display suitable output to the end-users.
  • There are many programming and scripting languages available which meet criteria to develop our system but we have used the following:

HTML:

This language is used for developing static pages our system

CSS:

This language is used for formatting our system

PHP:

This language is used to working over the system dynamically.

JAVASCRIPT:

This language is used for validation or authentication.

MYSQL

This language is used for developing a database of our system.

Software/Tools:

There are many freeware software available in the market but we use following these:

  • Dream viewer
  • XAMP Server
  • WAMP Server

Implication:

This system is designed for COMPANIES, ORGANIZATIONS OR UNIVERSITIES (Barani Institute of Management Science) because COMPANIES, ORGANIZATIONS OR UNIVERSITIES does not have any kind of online inventory management system and this kind of system is required to decrease cost and increase the work done efficiently.
