Outcome Based Education (OBE) also known as Performance-based education, is a system of education that emphasizes all of the components and facets of education on the course’s objectives. Each course has a specific goal in which the student wants to enroll. No matter whether the course belongs to knowledge or skill development. Learning can take place in any manner and at any pace. The learning process can be customized for each student. Using the desired objectives as a guide, the trainers, supervisors, and academic staff direct the pupils.

  • Adaptive Strategy:

Instructors are free to use any method they choose to instruct their pupils during their courses. By employing a variety of teaching and assessment strategies in their classes, teachers will further be able to identify student uniqueness and variability.

  • Purpose-Based Learning:

Setting a goal in advance helps students and teachers cope with distractions. The success of outcome-based education depends on how well evaluations are planned and carried out. Participants know they’ll enhance their competence by the completion of the program and engage in the effort to achieve.

Learning outcomes may influence how teaching and assessment are done. For teachers, it will be difficult to evaluate students’ reports regarding originality, self-respect, accountability, and self-reliance. Besides, there is no particular way to check the achievements and aims of these goals.

  • Over Participation:

Too much participation and lack of involvement of parents can also have a negative effect. If parents will hesitate to voice their comments, improvements will be difficult to make. And if parents are involved too much important changes will lose their charm and teachers will also be burdened with their tasks.

Briefly stated, OBE has changed the traditional way of teaching and learning as well. Educational institutions must adopt outcome-based education to improve students’ knowledge & skills. As students are inspired by the ways of OBE and this system of education enables them to achieve success in their lives and adopt a better profession in the coming future.
