How to calculate Ionic Strength with examples and calculator

Enter the value of concentration(Ci) separated by a comma
Enter the value of valence (Zi) separated by a comma

Example  of Ionic Strength calculation – Example 1

calculate the ionic strength of KCL IF its concentratio is 2M.
concentration = 2,2
valence = 1,1
formula = 1/2[(c1*z^2)+(c2*Z^2)]
result = 1/2[2+2]=4/2=2.

 

Example of Ionic Strength calculation – Example 2

calculate the ionic strength of K2SO4.
concentration = 2,1
valence = 1,4
formula = 1/2[(c1*z^2)+(c2*Z^2)]
result = 1/2[2+4]=6/2=3.

 

Example of Ionic Strength calculation – Example 3

calculate the ionic strength of KCL and cacl2 its concentratio is 1M.
concentration = 1,1,3
valence = 1,4,1
formula = 1/2[(c1*z^2)+(c2*Z^2)+(c3*Z^2)]
result = 1/2[1+4+3]=8/2=4.
