# How to calculate Ionic Strength with examples and calculator

In this tutorial, we will learn and see the followings;

- How to calculate Ionic Strength?
- Ionic Strength calculator
- Examples of Ionic Strength

Now let’s begin with Ionic strength calculator.

## Example of Ionic Strength calculation – Example 1 |

calculate the ionic strength of KCL IF its concentratio is 2M. |

concentration = 2,2 |

valence = 1,1 |

formula = 1/2[(c1*z^2)+(c2*Z^2)] |

result = 1/2[2+2]=4/2=2. |

## Example of Ionic Strength calculation – Example 2 |

calculate the ionic strength of K2SO4. |

concentration = 2,1 |

valence = 1,4 |

formula = 1/2[(c1*z^2)+(c2*Z^2)] |

result = 1/2[2+4]=6/2=3. |

## Example of Ionic Strength calculation – Example 3 |

calculate the ionic strength of KCL and cacl2 its concentratio is 1M. |

concentration = 1,1,3 |

valence = 1,4,1 |

formula = 1/2[(c1*z^2)+(c2*Z^2)+(c3*Z^2)] |

result = 1/2[1+4+3]=8/2=4. |
