BJP full form in politics of India

BJP stands for The Bharatiya Janta Party in India.

Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP):

The Bharatiya Janta Party was known as the “Indian People’s Party”. This party is one of the two leading political parties in India, a competitive political party with the Indian National Congress. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee an Indian politician founded Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1951, it is where Bharatiya Janta Party started its origin. After a long period of 26 years in 1977, Jana Sangh has to collaborate with other parties due to a state of emergency from 1975 – 1977. This collaboration was a reason to form the Janta Party. The Janta party beat the ruling party, Indian National Congress in general elections the same year. After the victory three years in the election, the Janata party joined hands with the former members of Jana Sangh and several other political parties in 1980 to build the BJP, Bharatiya Janta Party.

BJP and Ruling States:

Out of the 28 states in India, the BJP holds ground in 14 states. These 14 states are as under.

Uttar Pradesh.
Madhya Pradesh.

BJP and General Elections:

In general elections in 1984, it won only two seats and seemed to lose its power and election. But later this party gained success again, due to its agitation around Ram Janmabhoomi in Uttar Pradesh. After winning several state elections and some victories in national elections in 1996, BJP has become the most popular and largest political party in the parliament. BJP has to face a setback when Atal Bihari Vajpayee has to leave his position of leadership which lasted only 13 days. This was due to its failure to capture a large percentage in the lower house of parliament and its government.

BJP and National Democratic Alliance (NDA):

In 1998 after the general election, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee established a government having collaboration with National Democratic Alliance (NDA ) and this government survived only for one year. Vajpayee’s NDA new government won the election and this time they remained in government for the full five years. This newly formed government was the first non-Congress Administration that hold power for the entire term.

After having a full-term victory, the NDA has to face an unpredicted defeat in the general election of 2004. This loss in the general election has made BJP serve as an opposition party for the next ten years. Besides all that, in Gujrat Narendra Modi won the General Election of 2014 and secured the position of Chief Minister. After that Narendra Modi served India as a prime minister and from April 2022, the National Democratic Alliance is in charge of 18 Indian states.

Official Ideology and BJP:

Deendayal Upadhyaya was the first Indian politician who developed the official ideology of the BJP in 1965, which was integral humanism. However, the party was in the favour of societal conservatism along with the nationalist-focused foreign policy. After coming to power in 2014, the party’s major points of focus concern were numerous but some of them were Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, which granted Jammu and Kashmir an exceptional independent status, the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh and the execution of the intended Unified Civil Code. Unfortunately, the BJP did not achieve success in any of these contentious issues. Instead, the NDA government concentrated on a liberal economic strategic approach that was based on globalization and economic growth. Steadily the BJP government with NDA made itself able to start working on these policies as, during 2014, the status of Jammu and Kashmir was revoked by the BJP government on August 5th, Ayodha dispute case on November 9^th transferring land for the construction of Ram Mandir. Many other ideas are under construction that will compete with time as the BJP is the ruling party in India.
